JIBBER JABBING MOD
In the coming weeks I’ll also release the Photoshop export script that I used while creating the mod and the UI resource files, and write some tutorials to help people customize the interface to their liking. I’m hopeful that I’ll get back to it in a few months or so, though. This is because of the amount of time that is actually needed to do it - all texts in the game need to be externalized from the source code, which is a complete pain in the butt. I’m mostly disappointed I didn’t get to implement the localization tools/feature. This is mainly because of the lack of time and motivation, and the want to start working on something new. If you’ve also been keeping up with the forum, you’d notice that there are still a few features left on the to-do list along with some annoying bugs, but I have to (at least for now) hit pause on the project.
The Mech Suit is a weapon rather than a vehicle, and can do things like breaking a Warden's shield with rockets or a slam, and telekinesis cannot be used on it.Now, this doesn’t actually mean the game is done, no game is ever done, but at least I’ve reached a version that’s as stable and as polished as I could make it.
The Mech Suit is entirely cabable of single-handedly going from no notoriety to beating a Warden, but the final move cannot be performed while using it. Both the Mech Suit and the Battle Armor are both temporary, with miniguns on their arms and rocket launchers on their shoulders. I just about said 'You sound like a broken record.' until I realized that she wouldnt have the faintest idea what that meant. The Mech Suit might be inspired by the SOP-MA1 Battle Armor from Red Faction II. My 8 year old daughter was working on her homework and jibber-jabbing something while she worked. In PAX Demo, the Mech Suit is a bit slower and features different HUD, similar to The Ship's in " The Real World" and " Pop his Top". The Mech Suit has whatever Health Playa currently has. When hit by a Suppression Grenade while in a Mech Suit, it descends much slower. It is possible to bypass the barrier above The Simulation. Zinyak uses his own variant of the Mech Suit against Playa. After being dropped, it cannot be picked up again. Switching to another weapon "drops" Mech Suit. Calling Mech Suit Delivery inside of buildings enables Mech Suit's weapons but it doesn't appear and Super Powers and weapons are not available. When Smoked while using the Mech Suit, Playa respawns with it near the closest hospital, but only melee attacks are available. It is not possible to recruit or dismiss Homies while in the Mech Suit, although Homies called via the Cellphone are added to a Homie slot.
The Health drops of the Mech Suit look similar to Salvage in Red Faction: Armageddon. The Mech Suit was first revealed in the PAX gameplay video. With its arsenal of rocket launchers and handy miniguns, it is unstoppable in the face of all but the strongest foes. The Mech Suit is able to body slam, ground slam, and smash enemies with its powerful arms. The Mech Suit is capable of melee attacks and hovering. Humorous Disagreements about the nomenclature occur in dialogue, but both are technically incorrect, with "Mech" being the most accurate. Kinzie and Keith David refer to the Mech Suit " Power Armor", while Playa and Matt Miller call it a " Robot".
The Mech Suit is later on unlocked for use in The Simulation. Initially, it is not equipped with weaponry, and only melee attacks are possible, then Matt equips it with a minigun and rocket launcher. The Mech Suit is first featured when Playa rescues Matt Miller.
